Alberta Moore Mayer

Born in Wakulla County on April 5, 1914, she was a longtime resident of Tallahassee. Alberta was married to Karl Mayer for 44 years until his death in 1987. The daughter of Stephen and Frankie Moore of Crawfordville, FL; she is preceded in death by her parents and six brothers and sisters.

Alberta was retired from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, where she served for many years. After retirement she enjoyed cooking for family and friends and being involved in church activities. Her fried chicken and biscuits were always a delight! She was a longtime member of Forest Heights Baptist Church.

Alberta is survived by her daughter and son, Tricia Bagley (Barry) of Palm Desert, CA and Bob Mayer (Wanda) of Tallahassee, FL. Survivors also include four grandchildren, Beau Bagley of El Paso, TX, Piper Bagley of Seattle, WA, Stephen Mayer of Tallahassee, FL and Scott Mayer of Jacksonville, FL.

A celebration of her life will be held at Culley’s Meadowwood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, FL at 1:00 PM, Sunday, January 12, 2014. Pastor Gary Linton will officiate. Burial will take place afterwards at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 1921 Capital Circle Northwest, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
