

Bertha Gunn Thompson, born May 24th, 1934 in Brooksville, Florida, passed away in Tallahassee, Florida, on Saturday, September 13th, 2025. She is survived by three sons, David (Jill), Dale (Susan), and Terry (Lori), all of Tallahassee. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Anna (Camilla) Brito, Anna (Richard) Gutierrez, Brooke (Frankie) La Piana, Louis (Meghan) Poskey, Ashley (Wes) Leggett, Donovan (Bailey) Thompson, Allison Gilliard, Cody Gilliard, and Devon (David) Tillotson; eleven great-grandchildren, Carter Thompson, Avery Thompson, Myles Thompson, Levi Montford, Alexander Gutierrez, Samuel Gutierrez, June Poskey, Miles Poskey, Rosalie La Piana, Ludovica La Piana, and Henry Brito. She was predeceased by her parents, Alvin and Nina Gunn, her brothers Edward and Kenneth Gunn, her son Richard “Rick” Thompson, and her husband of sixty-two years, Bobby Thompson.
Bertha, along with Bobby, owned and operated a heavy equipment construction company for 37 years. In “retirement”, they were pleased to serve with the MAPS RV Volunteers, participating in the construction of churches, youth camps, college dormitories, recreational fields, a drug rehab center, and other projects throughout the eastern United States. During this time, they traveled extensively, visiting Canada and 48 states, including Alaska. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Greece.
Thanks to the staff of The Gables and Big Bend Hospice for their care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Big Bend Hospice or the Assemblies of God World Missions Disaster Relief are encouraged.
The family will have a private gathering to celebrate Bertha’s life.
