

Betty G. Tanner 88, went home to be with her Lord on May 3rd, 2016. Visitation with family and friends will begin on Monday May 9th, 2016 at 2:30 pm in the Maguire Center at Westminster Oaks in Tallahassee Florida. A celebration of life service will begin at 3:00 pm following the visitation also in the Maguire Center.
Betty was born in Orlando Florida on June 30th, 1927 to Ren Galbraith and Sarah Galbraith. After High School she enrolled and attended Florida State University. She was an active member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. While at FSU she met William A. Tanner and they were married in December of 1949. After graduation she moved with her husband to New York to support him in his career as an FBI agent. They moved back to Tallahassee in 1959 when her husband took the position of Chief of Police at Florida State University.
In 1967, Betty took a position with the Department of Statistics at Florida State University where she faithfully served until she retired in 1988. During that time, Betty continued to be active in the community and with her sorority. She was an avid Seminole fan and attended every football game for many years. She also enjoyed music, socializing, playing games with friends and spending time with family. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and friend. Her influence will continue to inspire those who knew her for generations to come.
She leaves behind her son Jim Tanner and wife Cindy, her daughter Allison Tanner and husband Dennis, her 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
