

Bonita Shirley “Bonnie” LaPlante (nee Phalor), 87, of Tallahassee, FL, died Tuesday (11/3) at Big Bend Hospice House. Bonnie was a native of Hillsboro, Ohio and daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel Wright Phalor of 1080 Noe-Bixby Road in Columbus. (Arthur Phalor was a founding member of the Reynoldsburg-Truro Historical Society).
Bonnie graduated from both Bexley High School ('46) in Columbus and Bowling Green State University ('50), and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.
She began a 28 year teaching career in elementary education while in Ohio. She moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1954 and retired from teaching in the early 1980’s while living in Merritt Island. She was an adventurer, world traveler, avid reader, golfer, and bridge player, as well as a professional artist and interior decorator who lit up a canvas or room with her flair for color and style. Bonnie was a good-hearted woman, who always had a kind word to say and who was loved by all who knew her.
Bonnie was married three times, widowed once and chose to focus on her own interests the last 25 years of her life…especially her children and grandchildren who were the loves of her life. Bonnie is survived by her: daughter; Suzanne J “Sue” (Paul) Ebbers of Tallahassee, son: Jeffrey J (Rachel) Johnston of Hong Kong, step-daughter; Ann Fremberg Andersen, step-son Dick (Mija) Fremberg, and grandchildren Jonathan P (Stacy) Flieder; James B. (XiXi) Flieder, Jason R Ebbers, Hilary R Ebbers.
