Carolyn Casey was a gentle, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She also was tough as nails in beating all the odds of survival against ovarian cancer for 12 years. She left this world peacefully on December 28, 2021, at age 65.
She was born to John and “Pat” Fitz on January 11, 1956. Her father's career took the family overseas for many years with Carolyn growing up in Australia, Germany, and Spain. After graduating from college, Carolyn’s path led to Miami, where she met her husband Steve Casey. They lived in Key West for 13 years before eventually settling in Tallahassee. Together, they had 3 children: Lauren, Cameron and Ashlynn.
Never one to focus attention on herself, Carolyn nevertheless quickly earned love and respect from all who got to know her. Carolyn loved spending time with family, especially her new grandson, Levi. Her children and Levi were her greatest joy. She was a skilled writer and supported her husband and their children in their college work; editing and critiquing their papers and assignments. Together they earned 4 degrees, with another close to completion.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to either the Leon County Humane Society or the American Cancer Society on her behalf.
