He is also survived by his sister, Wanda (Evans) Clark.

He is remembered fondly by extended family Judson Chapman (Georgia), Dee Chapman Lea (Mike), Graham (Leslie) and Clayton (Carol) Clark.
Born on August 14, 1927, in Lake City, Florida, to Leah Losley Evans and Cecil Houston Evans, Houston was raised in Titusville. He graduated from Titusville High School and went on to earn a degree in accounting from the University of Florida. In 1945, as World War II came to a close, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served again in 1950, shortly after marrying Jeannette.
In 1952, Houston and Jeannette moved to Miami, where they raised their family. He built a long and fulfilling career, eventually retiring from the University of Miami in 1989. In 1993, the couple relocated to Tallahassee, where they enjoyed a rich life of faith and fellowship at Wildwood Presbyterian Church.
In his final years, Houston resided at The Grove at Canopy, where he was lovingly cared for. There, he formed new friendships and rekindled his passion for painting.
Houston Evans will be remembered for his steadfast faith, devotion to family, quiet strength, and artistic spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and grace.
A celebration of life for Cecil will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida.
