

Christine Moody-Mills, age 94, of Tallahassee, Florida, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend passed away on March 1st, 2022. Her family and close friends endearingly called her “Chris” or “Gram” and were graced with unconditional love that will leave a void in their hearts.
Christine is preceded in death by her parents, Craig and Ruby Puckett, and her brother Austin T. Puckett. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Rev. Howard Thomas Moody, until his passing on November 9th, 2004. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Dudley Mills of 11 years, until his passing on December 12th, 2018.
Christine is survived by Sister-in-Law Eleanor Puckett, her 5 children, Keith (Tammy), Elaine (Ron), Craig (Lisa), Kirk, and Sandi (Frank), her 12 grandchildren Keightly (Quinn), Cristin (Robert), John, Nicolette, Lauren, Jason (Paula), Paul, Austin, Jordan (Hannah), Skylar (Austin), Logan (Autumn), and Kate, 7 great-grandchildren Lucy, Mark, Caleb, Ellie, Ariana, Kent, and Oakley. She is also survived by Joe’s 4 children, Kenneth (Miff), Joe Jr., Kathleen (Charles), and James, as well as extended Moody family and Mills family, and by many friends who made her life rich and full.
Born Christine Ann Puckett to Craig and Ruby Puckett in a house on Copeland Street in Tallahassee, Florida, on December 13, 1927. Graduated from Leon High in 1945 where she played the bassoon in the band and developed an appreciation for classical music. Christine graduated in 1950 from Florida State University with her bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare. She went on to continue her education at Scarritt College and Western Kentucky University.
Christine was a woman of many talents. She worked a long and successful career in social work for several organizations spanning across Georgia, Kentucky, and Florida for over 30 years and served the church in many capacities: Missionary, pastor’s wife, member of the United Methodist Women. In retirement, she worked as a Helping Each Other volunteer and visitation coordinator at Trinity United Methodist Church. She was known for her friendliness, empathy and counsel, being a caring friend, devoted mother, adoring grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as skills like cabinet making in her Chowkeebin Nene home, gardening, painting, and coordinating priceless family vacations.
In lieu of flowers, donations to support Trinity United Methodist Church of Tallahassee, FL, The Parkinson’s Foundation, or Florida State University College of Social Work may be considered for remembrance.
Services will be at 10am Saturday March 5th, 2022 at Trinity United Methodist Church Chapel, 120 W Park Ave with reception to follow. Interment will be a private family service with Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home.
