Wagar, Lewis and Deborah died Thursday (2/25) following an automobile accident in Georgia. Lewis was born Dec 15, 1937 in New Rochelle, NY and came to Tallahassee in 1959. Debbie was born July 14, 1954 in Panama City and came to Tallahassee in 1955. Both of them attended FSU, Lewis earning his Bachelors in Music and his Masters in Vocational Rehabilitation; and Debbie earning her Bachelors in Geography and Masters in Urban and Regional Planning. They also both worked at the Florida Department of Education where Lewis was the Policy Director and Debbie a Program Analyst.
Lewis was an accomplished craftsman and enjoyed building things for his family and home. He hand-built a boat, could find a way to fix anything that broke and enjoyed antique cars and trains. He loved his wife, family and the outdoors; enjoying boating, camping, trap shooting, and just walking his dog. He instilled this love in his children and grandchild who will treasure the time they had and miss him terribly.
Debbie enjoyed singing and was a member of the Tallahassee Community Chorus. She was also a seamstress, enjoyed cooking and entertaining others, she also had an interest in photography and loved spending time at the beach. She loved her family very much.
Survivors include Lewis’ son: David (Lien) of Tallahassee, daughter: Sara (Don) Schenker of Ft. Lauderdale; sister: Sarah (David) Meyer of Alpharetta, GA; brother Melvin Hintz of Endicott, NY; granddaughters: Jackie and Elizabeth of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Debbie’s sister: Linda Davis and brother Robert Davis both of Tallahassee, brother Marion W.
