Denny, as he was affectionately known as, had a strong love of family. This was evident in the care that he showed toward his wife of Thirty-Two (32) years, Crystal. Together they enjoyed many years of adventures as they traveled around the country, a favorite pastime that Denny enjoyed. He also enjoyed being involved with the lives of his children, Sonja, Jim, and Ginger. He enjoyed visiting his daughter, Sonja and frequenting their favorite restaurants. In addition, he was fortunate to have Ginger nearby which afforded him the opportunity to spend holidays together. One of his favorite moments was when he had the opportunity to be the announcer for his son Jim’s, Brandon Bears Youth Football games. Not surprising to anyone, he was a doting grandfather. He was always actively involved in the lives of his grandchildren and could often be seen attending their sporting events and their band activities.
Denny proudly served his Country. He was a devoted member of the United States Air Force and retired on August 4, 1987 with over 26 years of service. While enlisted he received numerous awards including: Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Service Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Performing in the Air Force Band allowed Denny to travel to over Fifty-Two (52) different countries around the world. As a result of Denny’s guidance and influence, two of his grandchildren are following in his footsteps, Jacob serving in the Army and playing trumpet in the band and Jaylin serving in the Air Force.
He loved golfing. He and Crystal have been members of the Summer Brook Golf Course since 2008. Denny also served on the Board of Directors for the Men’s Golf Association.
He is survived by his wife Crystal; his daughter Sonja Dearrington and her husband Michael; son Jim Waters and wife Marion; daughter Ginger Williams and husband Alvin; his sister Greta Ann Anderson and husband Warren; 10 grandchildren and 5 Great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by His Mother Greta Englund and Father Oliver Englund.
Denny was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
“You are the love of my life, Until we meet again. Your Lil Cuties, Crystal”
