Doris H. Hurt

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Fl. Graveside services will be held at 2 p. m Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hurt was born on September 29, 1919 in Iron City, Georgia, but lived most of her life in Tallahassee. She was a member of East Hill Baptist Church. She was a fantastic homemaker, most hospitable and wonderful provider of many a great meal. She was a very caring person and would do anything possible to make you at ease in her home and elsewhere. Her family was her passion.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Payne (Teddy) and two grandchildren whom she adored, Courtney of Tallahassee and Brian of Atlanta, Georgia. Mrs. Hurt was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband David. She had ten siblings and is survived by four sisters; Freeda Hurst, Mary Cole, Evelyn Howell (Carroll) of Bushnell, FL and Grace Croft of Webster, Fl.

Mrs. Hurt was the benefactor of caring, warm and professional services from the staff of Big Bend Hospice of Tallahassee, Fl. She requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Fl 32308.
