

Doris Irene Lindeman, age 93, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2015 with family by her side. She was born December 3, 1921 in Richmond Hill, Queens NY, daughter of Edward Pius Siegel and Amelia Mary Fels-Siegel. Doris attended John Adams High School City of New York.
As a young woman during WW II, Doris volunteered for the war effort serving from 1943-1945 as Yeoman Second Class in the U.S. Navy at Arlington, Virginia. During this time Doris also met her husband Oliver who was stationed in the U.S. Army at nearby Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The year after WW II ended Doris worked as a civilian for the Intelligence Office of the FBI at Aberdeen Proving Ground.
Doris and her husband relocated the family to Lantana, Florida in 1951. She raised her family in Lantana over a forty five year period while commencing a thirty year career as an administrative assistant working as a Teamster for American Trucking before retiring and moving to Tallahassee in 1996.
Doris became a resident of Westminster Oaks in 2002 when she was 80 years young. She continued her independent living lifestyle throughout her residency and was very involved in the vibrant Westminster community. She volunteered at the Westminster Clinic and enjoyed playing bridge, dining with friends, and attending musical and theatrical events. She made many lasting and treasured friendships there.
Over the years Doris was an active and devoted member of Our Savior Lutheran Church (Lake Worth, Fl), Grace Presbyterian Church (Hypoluxo, FL), Epiphany Lutheran Church (Tallahassee, FL) and most recently Grace Lutheran Church (Tallahassee, FL). She always gave her time generously and served on numerous outreach committees including the Lutheran Braille Workers and Lutheran Quilters. She played in the bell choir and was appointed an Elder at Grace Presbyterian Church in Hypoluxo, FL.
Doris was a loving and caring wife and mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her kindness, humanity and joy for life will be greatly missed by many.
Doris is preceded in death by her late husband of fifty years, Oliver Weikko Lindeman, and her sister Mildred Edna Sheridan. She is survived by her son David (Beth) Lindeman of Davis, CA; daughter Mary (M.B. IV) Adelson of Tallahassee, FL; daughter Irene Lindeman of Columbus, GA; granddaughters Maya Lindeman of Davis, CA; Kimberley (Greg) Nichols of Tallahassee, FL; and Kari (Alan) Ferguson of Atlantic Beach, FL; great-grandchildren Garrett Jr. and Megan Blanton; Lauren and Lindsey Nichols; Tucker, Anna and Sara Ferguson. Doris also leaves behind cherished extended family members and friends.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Big Bend Hospice for the professional and loving care they provided during Doris’ illness and also to the staff and residents of Westminster Oaks for their prayers and loving support.
