Driven by her love for young people, she spent her entire career with the Leon County School System, serving as a teacher, principal, and administrator and touching the lives of countless students and families.
She was also active in the community, serving in Kiwanis and on the Board of Directors for Envision Credit Union. Doris had a gift for connecting with people, and all who met her quickly bonded with her and looked forward to seeing her lovely smile the next time their paths crossed.
She will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the lasting impact she made on so many lives. Doris was the daughter of Raymond and Stella Sheppard; is survived by her children, Gretchen (Kirkland) Baker (Reginald) and Manuel Payne (Marilyn); her grandchildren, Shawna Smith and Brandon Smith; and many extended family members who will cherish her memory.
In accordance with her wishes, no service will be held.
