

Douglas Swain Haseltine (Skip), retired Actuary, and resident of Tallahassee, Florida passed away on October 24, 2025, at 81 years old. He was born in Durham, North Carolina to Frederick Pilgrim Haseltine and Mary Hazel Haseltine (Peggy) on January 23, 1944. He was a retired actuary from The Travelers in Hartford, Connecticut where he raised his family in Glastonbury, Connecticut, and the Department of Insurance in the State of Florida. Among his achievements was serving as president of the Casualty Actuary Association.
He was a member of Killearn Methodist Church for over 30 years. He was an avid golfer playing in college and competitively throughout his life. He loved playing cards and achieved a Life Master status in bridge. He enjoyed a daily swim at the pool after work in warm weather and could swim in the ocean at nearly any temperature. He spent many years vacationing on the North Carolina coast with a special love for Emerald Isle. He loved entertaining and creating meals for family and friends. He was a master griller whether it was a steak or fish and he loved to whip up his famous pasta dinner.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Susan Noble Haseltine. He is survived by his daughters Mary Coleman H Guenther (Chris Guenther) and their children, Samantha, and CoCo; Susan Haseltine Leyden (Frank Leyden) and their children, Jack, and Gus; Sarah Ellett Haseltine and his son Douglas Noble Haseltine, and long-time friend Candace Hires, and his beloved dog Peggy.
