

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas James (DJ) Humphrey, who departed this life on September 23, 2025 at the age of 67. DJ was born on August 27, 1958 in Spokane, Washington, and throughout his life, touched the hearts of all who knew him.
DJ is survived by his wife Connie and son Eric, sister Sheryle Royce, and brother Bruce Humphrey, beloved nieces and nephews, along with countless friends and extended family. DJ will be fondly remembered for his devotion to family and friends, always helping with home projects at a moment’s notice. DJ loved to treat his friends to his culinary skills, whether it was a breakfast quiche, barbequed ribs or french silk pie. His problem-solving skills with home networks and computer issues was legendary. DJ's warmth, generosity, and quick and dry sense of humor brought joy and comfort to everyone around him. Notably, DJ honorably served in the United States Navy, demonstrating courage, dedication, and a commitment to service that inspired those who served alongside him. After serving 20 years in the Navy, DJ moved to Tallahassee and continued his career in Information Technology with the City of Tallahassee and the State of Florida Agency for HealthCare Administration. He retired from the City of Tallahassee after 17 years of dedicated service.
DJ will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, kindness, and strength will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
An interment service will be held on Monday October 6, 2025, at the National Cemetery in Tallahassee at 11 am. All who knew and loved DJ are welcome to attend and share in this remembrance. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Commerce Center for Compassionate Care by Big Bend Hospice in DJ Humphrey’s memory.
