Edward John McCabe, Sr. (85) of Tallahassee, Florida passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 surrounded by loving family. Beloved husband of 65 years to Leah (Tabor), Ed worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family. He spent 30 years going from sales to management at Montgomery Ward, then “retired” to his hardware store on Davis Island. Ed was a devoted brother, husband, father and grandfather to 8 children, 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Ed is preceded in death by his father and mother, Eleanor and John Clifford McCabe; sister, Evelyn (Louie) Gellerman; brother, William (Claudia) McCabe as well as his daughter-in-law Maria McCabe and son-in-law Don Giese. Along with his wife Leah, he is survived by his brother, John (Doris) McCabe (Forest Lake, MN) and sisters, Katherine "Kitty" Collins (New Brighton, MN) and Joan (Duane) Hetland (Palm Coast, FL); His children: Edward John McCabe, Jr. (Burnsville, MN), Eleanor Susan “Suzy” Giese (Johnsburg, IL), Linda Kay Johnson (Tallahassee, FL), Timothy James (Shari) McCabe (Bloomington, MN), Kathleen Marie McCabe (Tallahassee, FL), Judy (Stephen) Hodge (Tallahassee, FL), Mary Jo (Bloomington, MN) and Charlene “Charlee” McCabe Day (Burlington, VT). His grandchildren and great grandchildren include Patrick (Kellie) McCabe (Farmington, MN); Kevin McCabe (Burnsville, MN); Jennifer (Mike) Giese-Quirin and son, Mark Quirin-Giese (Lake Barrington, IL); Jacquelyn(Steve)Huisman and children, Hunter and Rebecca Huisman (Pulaski, WI); Jodi (Dave) Cullen and children, Cameron and Karissa Cullen (Lake Geneva, WI); Jillian Giese (Johnsburg, IL); Charles (Katy) Johnson and daughter, Kenzie Johnson (Bradenton, FL); Alyson (Nick) Calo (Bloomington, MN); Taylor McCabe (Bloomington, MN); Teri (Bram) Hagen (Tallahassee, FL); Joanna Hodge (Jacksonville, FL); Michelle Hodge (Tallahassee, FL); Dayton and Sara McCabe (Bloomington, MN); JT, Alex and Scotti Day (Burlington, VT).

We will celebrate his life and legacy at a 5:15 PM memorial mass to be held at Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More, November 10, 2016 (900 W Tennessee St, Tallahassee, FL 32304). Reception to follow the service.
