Edward "Ed" John Telander

Edward “Ed” J Telander, 95, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Born August 31, 1928, in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late Silas Gordon Telander and Wanda Whistler Telander.

He is predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Donald Telander; wives, Virginia (Ginny) Ruth Telander and Mary L Telander.

He is survived by his sons, Jeff Telander (Jodi) and Tyler Telander (Nancy); daughter, Lisa Diehl; grandchildren, Jesse and Virginia Telander, and great grandsons, Jayson and Ollie and his wife, Lourdes Tanon Telander.

Ed was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ed was a graduate of the University of Florida’s electrical engineering program and was an avid gator fan.

He served in the United States Navy as an electrical engineer and continued his education, obtaining a Master’s Degree from Stetson University.

Throughout his engineering career, he had many accomplishments; which include working with the space program in the 60’s and 70’s. Ed directed the launch of the 9-1-1 program in Florida.

Ed loved the mountains and took his family camping in the Great Smoky Mountains. Ed also drove the family to the Seattle and New York World's Fair in 1962 and 1964.

A funeral service for Ed will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312. A burial with military honors will occur Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312. A catered reception following burial will occur Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:30 AM, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312.
