
Emory Sutton Williams, age 77, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2014 at his residence after a long battle with Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia in Tallahassee, Florida.Emory was born in Donaldsonville, Georgia and moved to Tallahassee in 1954. He was an auto mechanic before retiring in 2001. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he served as an usher, deacon, teacher of Sunday school and boys' RA's. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jennie E. Williams; a brother, Darrell Williams, Brinson, Georgia; three daughters, Brenda (James) Poppell of Havana, Beverly (Paul) Touchton, and Laura (Mitch) Hoover of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Ashlee (Justin) Shafer, Brittney (Taylor) Meggs, Stuart (Janice) Touchton, Trevor Touchton, Lindsey Hoover and Casey Hoover; great grandchildren, Grayson Meggs and Nolan Shafer. Emory loved spending time with his family and friends. One of his great passions in life was fishing. He was an expert fresh water fisherman and counted any day spent on the water a huge success, regardless of the catch. Emory loved the mountains, camping and white water rafting. He helped chaperone youth rafting and hiking trips to the Chattooga River and was adored and respected by the students.Emory appreciated the stillness of nature and felt God's peace and presence there. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30th at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, Tallahassee, with burial at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. Viewing-visitation will be on Wednesday, October 29th from 6-8 p.m. at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Riggins Road.
