

George W. Hutton, Master Sergeant, E-8, USMC, Ret., 86, passed on July 14, 2012 in Tallahassee, FL. Born in Edington (Bensalem), PA, he was proud to be a first-generation American, son of the late Annie (Mullen) of Derry and James Hutton of Donegal in County Derry, Ireland. Survived by his wife of 28 years, Betsy (Betty) Hamilton Hutton; father of Scott Hutton (Rosanne), Harper’s Ferry, WV, and Maryanne Martinez, Aurora, CO; stepfather of Chris Hamilton (Linda), Minneapolis, MN, Alison Danaceau, Atlanta, GA, Melissa Hamilton (Peter Perialas), Austin, TX, and Jay Hamilton, Tampa, FL. Grandfather of ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
George served 20 years in the United States Marine Corps (1943 to 1964), seeing action in the South Pacific in WW II and in Korea, where he survived the march from the Chosin Reservoir in December 1950. He also retired as a Fire, Health and Safety Supervisor for the Pinellas County Schools from 1968 to 1988. George enjoyed being an Advanced Master Gardener, a volunteer at Pineview Elementary School, and a volunteer with Big Bend Hospice. He was predeceased by his brother James, sister Betty Cross, and first wife, Sophie Krol Hutton. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis Wildlife Ass’n, PO Box 38160, Tallahassee, 32315 or to Christ Presbyterian Church, 2317 Bannerman Rd, Tallahassee, 32312, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 19.
