Gloria’s family moved to Tallahassee, Florida in 1950, where Gloria attained her Bachelors of Education at Florida State University. She later completed her Master’s degree in counseling at The University of Florida.
Gloria taught school in Fort Walton Beach, Florida in Winter Park, Florida. She later went to work for The Florida Department of Correction, where she was the head of the counseling department at Lowell Prison for Women. After her father passed away in 1975, she moved back to Tallahassee, Florida to live with her mother. She continued to work for The Department of Corrections in the education division until her retirement.
Gloria is survived by her siblings; Miladeen Hostetter, Sarah Johnson (Dallas), Christi Gray (James), David Ward (Christie) and many nieces and nephews.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, William and Maude Ward and brother-in-law, Albert Hostetter.
A graveside service for Gloria will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312.
