Ira Roderick "Rod" Vaughn

He was born on the family farm near Barrineau Park and the Perdido River in rural Escambia County Florida in 1935. After graduating from Tate High School in Pensacola, he attended Pensacola Junior College. From PJC he moved to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University where he graduated in 1959.

In 1960, he began his 54 year career in the Insurance Agency Business. On April 1, 1979, he formed Vaughn Insurance Agency along with his wife Virginia and son Kevin. Vaughn Insurance combined forces with the Rogers and Gunter families in 2003 to become Rogers, Gunter, Vaughn Insurance which is now part of HUB International.

In 1996, he formed North Florida Agents Network, Inc. along with his family. NFAN continues to be family owned and operated today.

Having been a member of Killearn Methodist Church since 1970, he loved singing in the choir and serving in numerous volunteer roles. He was a long time member of Civitan Club and loved all things FSU. Go Noles!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice Crabtree Vaughn and William Albert Vaughn and six brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Vaughn, brother Col. Luther Vaughn, brother-in-law Dick Moss, son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Brenda Vaughn, daughter Vanessa Vaughn, Grandchildren Adam (spouse Erin Vaughn), Jordan (Spouse Mark Newell), Kyle and Chelsea Vaughn, Kallie and Kenzie Jung, Great Grandchildren Carter and Charlie Vaughn and William and Owen Vaughn-Newell.

Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday October 25, 2022 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday October 26, 2022 at Killearn Methodist Church, 2800 Shamrock St S, Tallahassee, Florida. Reception will be held immediately following the service at Killearn Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Interment will take place at Culley’s MeadowWood Cemetery, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida immediately after reception.
