James (Jim) of Crawfordville, the son of James N and Etta M Kirkland, was born January 09, 1940. The family moved to Tallahassee, where Jim attended Leon County High School and played clarinet in the marching band, graduating in 1957. After graduating, Jim joined the U.S. Marine Corps and later attended Florida State University.
Jim is survived by his wife, Anita, and his four sons, John, Bert, Ben, and Adam. Jim has three grandchildren, Brendan, Katie, and Haylee.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. He developed a passion for snow skiing, making an annual trip to Wolf Creek, CO.
Jim was proud of his work at Capital City First National Bank. He began as a teller, and after over 40 years of service, retired as a Vice-President. Jim helped numerous people begin their business, and many of these customers became friends and continued to remain friends after his retirement.
Services will be at Culley MeadowWood, 700 Timberlane Road, on August 18. Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m., with a memorial at 3:00 p.m., followed by a brief graveside service.
