The measure of a man at 82, Jess Nable will best be remembered as a simple, kindhearted man. He was a people person who always set others at ease. He accepted people as they were, while looking for the best in them. He had a playful sense of humor and loved sharing old jokes. His eyes twinkled. He loved to read and build things with his hands. He had a deeply rooted honest work ethic and expected others to have it too. He led his family by example, a good man. He had a conversational relationship with God and Jesus from a young age, yielding easily to his leadership and guidance. He was in awe of eternal things. A good example of this, one day he glanced down at his feet and saw a strange bug., "God, why'd you make such an ugly bug?" and the burst into delightful laughter at sharing such a thing with the creator of all things.
He was born March 5, 1929 at the beginning of the great depression, in Orlando, FL, the fourth of five sons of a carpenter. His father was William Gustavis Nable, his mother was Margaret Miriam Raegan Nable. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death. He was close to his surviving brother, Richard D. Nable of Macon, GA. He gifted the world with four children who walk in his footsteps and partake of his nature; Greg Nable (Lorie), Tyler and Ashlen of Grand Ridge, F. Mark Nable (Pam), Brandon and Daniel of Tallahassee, FL, Tim Nable (Debbie) Lauren and Joshua of Tallahassee, FL, and Jessica Nable Heberle (Jim) Joseph of Tallahassee, FL. He adored and nutureded his wife of 53 years, Judith Dougan Nable, whom he married in 1958. His profession was the printing industry. He was co-owner of Precision Company for 48 years, working with his hands right along with his employees. He was an active member of First Christian Church. He enjoyed praying for the sick, visiting in homes, and participating in small prayer groups. He served in the Korean Conflict, as a corporal, receiving two Purple Hearts for wounds in action. He spent two years in an Army hospital in Columbus, GA. He then attended Florida State University, earning a B.A. in Art and Design, which was of great value in the subsequent world of the Printing Industry. He was a genuinely good man with a simple outlook. "Love, God, family, country and yourself." He did this successfully. He will be greatly be missed. It was a privilege to know him.
