Growing up in this world you make choices, some good, and some bad. Each choice shapes the path ahead. My journey started with my parents, Gloria and Herman, bring myself with my brothers (David, Herman, Frank, and James) and my sisters (Jean, Debra, and Tammy) into this world.
After graduating from Leon High School, I joined the Army with a few of my brothers. This choice helped me fill my dreams of traveling the world while defending my county. Near the end of my service, while on R&R, I met my soon to be wife, Sara. I still hear her laugh as she tells the story to our children, (Jennifer, Katherine, Benjamin, Diana, and Stephanie) and grandchildren, (Pebbles, Clay, Autumn, Breana, Madison, Tomas, John, Benjamin, Brandon, Monica, Mindy, Michael, Kolby, Zane, and Logan.)
With amusement, my wife would say: Your father came into the bowling alley goofing off. He continually asked me out. After some persuasion, I agreed. When he showed up for the date, I almost had him kicked out. He had clean up and did not look the same. His shaggy hair was trimmed as was his beard. His clothes went from worn to new and pressed.
Though the years, choices became harder and harder as the world circled the sun. But as I close my eyes for the final time, meeting my wife at heavens gates, know your mother and I will be watching over each of you as you forge your path in this world. Hoping the knowledge and wisdom we taught you through our mistakes guides you to a better future.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32308
