John "Jack" G. Thrasher

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Peggy Osborne Thrasher. Two daughters, Joy Thrasher Murphy and Lisa Thrasher Lunn (son in law Donald J. Lunn), two grandsons, Michael Chance Lunn (wife Amber) and Zachary Adam Lunn and one great grandson Lawson Lunn.

Jack was born in Rockford, IL in 1936 to parents Gilbert and Hazel Thrasher and had one older sister Jenny. Upon graduating high school Jack enrolled in the US Army. After his military service Jack went on to attend Kentucky Wesleyan College and took a job with Grace Chemical Company in Owensboro, KY. Over the next 4 years Jack married his sweetheart Peggy, fathered two daughters and graduated college with a degree in Economics. With a degree in hand Jack accepted a job with the Federal Inspector General’s Office in Atlanta GA. He then went on to a long career as an auditor with both the Federal and State of Florida Department of Transportation. After 40 years of distinguish service he retired and lived out the rest of his life taking care of his family and his horses.

A graveside service for Jack will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Oakfield Cemetery, 2462 Waukeenah Hwy, Monticello, FL 32344.
