

Kathleen Rolph Boyd Scheer 93, of Tallahassee, died on February 13, 2013, after a brief illness. She was born March 15, 1920 in Mt. Sterling, KY to Jarvis Earl and Mary Domigan Rolph, and moved to Florida in 1926. She was raised in Leesburg and in 1937 graduated from Leesburg High School, from which five of her six children would later graduate. She married Everett Boyd, Sr. of Leesburg in 1942, and after his 1955 death married the second love of her life, R.E. Ebby Scheer, in 1959. She was a bookkeeper at Boyd’s Furniture & Hardware, and later secretary to the principals at Skeen Elementary School and Leesburg High School. She and Ebby retired in 1980, and spent several years of traveling across the U.S. in their RVs, visiting all of the 48 contiguous states. In Leesburg, she was a member and deacon at First Presbyterian Church. In 1987, they moved to Tallahassee to be close to their family. Kathleen and Ebby were active, charter members of Christ Presbyterian Church, where she was named an honorary lifetime member of the Presbyterian Women for her service to the church. She was preceded in death by sister, Anna Nash, and daughter, Dee Scheer.
She is survived by her children Kathy Atkins-Gunter (Bill), Linda Huey, Everett Boyd (Valorie) and Sandy Scheer, all of Tallahassee, and Harris Boyd (Debi) of Roswell, GA, 17 grandchildren: Scott Baker, Melinda Baker (Lee Trotman), Michael Huey, Michele Huey Proctor (David), Allison Huey Coleman (Jason), Sarah Kathleen Huey Wiley (Jonathan), Everett (Rett) Boyd III (Ransey), Blair (Elizabeth) Boyd, Mike Albl, and Karin Albl Gray (Kenny), all of Tallahassee, Christina Boyd, Ian Boyd, and Sam Weintraub, all of Roswell, GA, Brad Turner (Maria), of Plant City, FL, Barbara Kathleen Gipson (Bill), of Norfolk, VA, and Doug Albl (Lisa), of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren: Kearce Boyd Baker and Madison Baker, of Sneads, FL, Zach Baker of Battle Creek, MI, Sarah Allison Proctor, Anna Proctor, Thomas Coleman, Katherine Coleman, Sumner Wiley and Owen Wiley, Peyton Boyd, Everett Boyd IV, Aden Kathleen Boyd, Tamara Gray James (David), and Cole Gray, all of Tallahassee, Trey Turner and Lane Turner, of Plant City, Joshua Rice and Dustin Rice of Norfolk, Avery Albl of Mystic, CT, and one great-great granddaughter, Skylar Rice of Norfolk.
A memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at Christ Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, February 18, at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church, Memory Garden Fund 2317 Bannerman Rd., Tallahassee, FL 32312.
