Katia (Sylvestre) Hing was born on October 3rd 1973, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She moved to the US in 1980. She was full of zest and life. She believed in living her best life and the healthiest version of it possible. She was very dedicated to healthy living including regular exercise and running 5 days a week, always striving to look and feel beautiful inside and out. She died unexpectedly at the age of 50, but lived a tremendously fulfilled life. She was dedicated to her family, friends, and loved ones.
While we all have our mountains to climb, Katia went over her mountain and made it look simple. Katia dropped out of school at 16 years old and got a job. She soon realized that it was difficult to succeed without an education. As such, she re-enrolled in high school, got her diploma, and enrolled in Lively Technical School. There she became an LPN, and after that, she never stopped! Three years later, she would continue her progress and received her RN and BSN degrees at Polk Community College. Five years later, she would become an ARNP and obtained her Master's degree in 2011 from Eckerd College . In 2015 she would go on to procure another Master's degree in Clinical Psychiatry.
Like many of us, she believed in God and the word of the Lord. She believed that through faith we can all be healed.
Katia at certain points led a hard life but her greatest achievements were getting married to Leon Hing and the birth of her son Messiah Hing in April of 1998. Through motherhood, she learned the power of love, patience and pride. The life of a parent is difficult at times but very rewarding in and of itself. It was truly her greatest challenge but also her greatest achievement.
Again, Katia had a truly inspiring focus on overall health and wellness. While at times she was very direct and brutally honest, she also loved to make others feel good about themselves. Three years ago she opened up and esthetician clinic (Next Level Skin Care), dedicated to making women look and feel better. This was a source of tremendous satisfaction and achievement for her. Katia was a wonderful human being who was incredibly caring, compassionate, and selfless. She was always very giving of her time and support. To say that she was an advanced registered nurse practitioner would be understatement, as she was truly so much more. As an ARNP, esthetician, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, or friend, Katia clearly exemplified all that is good in this world.
Katia was called home on October 19th, 2023. May she continue to rest in eternal, peaceful sleep at the right hand of the Lord our Father.
She is survived by her son Messiah, her mother Marlene Francois, many sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and friends who were more sisters than friends. She left behind a legacy of people who loved her and believed in her. We all lost something special with her passing . I lost a sister, a friend, employee, confidant, and source of unwavering support. She was a remarkable person to every one of us in her own unique ways. We were blessed and privileged to have Katia in our lives, but certainly wish that we could have had more time together on this earth. We will always miss your physical presence, but know that your beautiful spirit will live on in our hearts and minds forever. My dear sister, this is not goodbye as we will see each other again in the hereafter!
My beloved sister, we will continue your journey to ensure that your life and contributions to this world will always be remembered and celebrated, in Jesus Mighty Name! Amen!
I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believed in me , though he were dead yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believe in me shall never die. St John 11;25-26
