Born on February 12, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ken was the beloved son of Elmer and Jenny Traft, who preceded him in death. He carried their values of hard work, deep faith, and devotion to family throughout his life.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Ken served his country with honor. He later worked as a manager at Winn-Dixie, enjoyed the fast pace of the auto auction, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service — a career he deeply valued until Parkinson’s disease led him to retire earlier than planned.
Ken’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his cherished granddaughters, Lilly and Olivia Traft, and his loving daughter-in-law, Hanna Traft. He is also survived by his children, Michele Traft and Brian Traft, along with Brian’s wife and their children. Ken shared a lasting friendship with his former wife, Barbara Booth, whose support and care meant a great deal to him throughout his life.
Ken was a beloved member of a large and loving extended family, including: John Booth; John M. Booth; Sue LaRock and her fiancé Rick Ehlebracht, along with her children Jena LaRock and AJ Wolf, and his wife Taylor Wolf; Peggy and Dale Kephart, and their children Molly and Adam Kephart; Anna and Peter Piira, and their daughter Jonna with her husband Kirat and son Aasis and;Jim and Kathy Wolf, and their children Stephen Wolf and Katie Elliott; Danny and Janet Wolf, and their children Danielle Sellers, Emily Wolf, Sarah, and Nate Wolf.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and medical staff at Synergy, TMH, Encompass, Big Bend Hospice, and the VA for their compassion, love, and support. A special thank you to his favorite caregiver, Ruth Herrle — all of whom shared a meaningful bond with Ken and remained an important part of his life.
“Daddy,” “Grandpa,” and “Uncle Ken” were the titles he wore with the most pride, joy, and love.
Ken was known for his kindness, his unwavering faith, and his legendary sense of humor. He never missed a chance to tell a dad joke, share a mini muffin, or dream of winning the lottery. He had a quiet strength that carried him through life, especially in his final years.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held on Friday, June 20th at 10:00 AM at Culley’s Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308. Immediately following the service, interment will take place at the National Cemetery, with refreshments afterward at the family’s home.
Though Parkinson’s may have taken much, it never stole Ken’s spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith. We find comfort knowing he is whole again — reunited with his parents, and home with his Savior.
We love you fiercely, Grandpa.
Thank you for the laughter, the lessons, and the love.
Until we meet again. 💔✝️🇺🇸
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to support Parkinson’s research, in honor of Ken’s courageous fight
