Louise Young Hartsfield, 93, passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2018. Born in Simpson, WV to William Young and Flora Mae Whitehair Young, she moved to Tallahassee in 1944 after marrying Lowell Hartsfield when he returned home from the war in Europe. They were married 48 years until his death in 1993. She was preceded in death by both parents and two brothers, James Young of Baltimore, MD and Walter Young of New Orleans, LA. She is survived by a daughter, Lenora Hawkins (Danny) and a son, Billy Hartsfield, both of Tallahassee; grandsons, Alex Hartsfield (Monica), Robert Hawkins and Christopher Hawkins, all of Tallahassee, and Michael Hawkins (Erin) of Seminole, FL. She has three great-grandsons: Joshua Hawkins (Liz), Gabriel Hawkins and Wyatt Hartsfield; great-granddaughter, Julia Louise Hawkins; and great-great-granddaughter, Sophia Joy Hawkins.
Rev. Dan Sowell will officiate graveside services at 11:00AM on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. A reception will follow at East Hill Baptist Church, 912 Miccosukee Rd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Big Bend Hospice of Tallahassee, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308 or East Hill Baptist Church.
