
Mae Duncan Shick of Tallahassee, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 21st, 2012.
She was born on January 1, 1916, the daughter of Cletus W. and Nina Good Duncan. Mae was born in Shenandoah City, VA and graduated from New Market High School, VA. She moved to Winchester, VA in 1934. She owned and operated her own hair shop, the Cinderella Beauty Nook, in Winchester. In 1948, she married the Rev. Kenneth V. Shick. She ministered with her husband to Presbyterian congregations in Front Royal, VA, Baltimore, Indialantic, FL and Melbourne, FL. In her retirement, she and her husband lived in Indialantic and later moved to Westminster Oaks, Tallahassee, in 1997, where they enjoyed their family, friends and the many activities at the Oaks. She and Ken were married 58 years until his death in 2006. Mae was a faithful ministry partner with her husband, as well as a devoted and loving mother to her children.
She is survived by her twins, Sandra Jean Butler (Neil) of Tallahassee and the Rev. Kenneth D. Shick (Robin) of Tampa. She is also survived by a sister, Marjorie Glover (Duell) of Winchester; five grandchildren, Neil Butler (Kara), Carin Butler, Matthew Shick (Kathryn), Jonathan Shick (Casie), and Spencer Shick; and two great-grandchildren, Brooks Butler and Audrey Shick.
A service celebrating the resurrection and giving thanks for her life will be held in the Frances Chapel at Westminster Oaks on Monday, Dec. 31st, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Tom Borland will officiate. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to: Faith Presbyterian Church, 2200 N. Meridian Rd., Tallahassee, Fl 32303.
