

Mrs. Margery Ann Tully passed away on April 4, 2013 at 102 years of age. She is the widow of Horace Tully of Sopchoppy to whom she was married for 57 years. The couple met during World War II in California where they resided until Margery retired from state government.
The couple retired to Florida where they were avid travelers and belonged to two Tallahassee Travel Clubs. Margery was a member of the League of Women Voters, the Audubon Society, AARP, CSEA and RPEA. She served on the Tallahassee 21st Century Committee and on the Consolidation Council. In December of 1998 at the young age of 88, Margery graduated from the Citizens Alliance Class presented by the Leon County Sheriff's Department.
Before coming to Florida, she was chairperson of the California Institute of Government; Chairperson of a $5,000,000 budget for the 100th year Golden Beginning Celebration in California; President of the State Women's Club & president of one of the chapters of CSEA (California State Employees Association).
She was active during World War II serving on Canteen Committees at several California bases. She chaired the city and county Christmas party celebrations for Travis Air Force Hospital & also chaired the bond drive for California State Employees. The drive raised so much money that they state employees were selected to name a boomer airplane.
Margery & Tully were very proud to be among the few Americans who were selected to test drive the Chrysler Turbine Car which used alternative fuels
Her secret to having a long life was "real" cream in your coffee, "real" butter on your bread and eat lots of chocolate. Of course the most important ingredients were to know and follow the Lord and to stay active which she was to the end of her life.
The services will be held on Saturday, April 13th at 11:00 am at Cully's Memorial Gardens Chapel on Timberlane Road. She is survived by two nephews and their wives, Robert and Cynthia Maxwell of Tallahassee and Lon and Adela Maxwell of Monticello, a sister-in-law, Barbara Maxwell of Tallahassee, two great nephews, Ron and Gary Allenby and a great niece, Coral Allenby all from California and by other family and many friends including Patricia Johns.
