Marie Cotton Hightower

Marie was born May 19, 1927 in Cottondale, Florida to the late Earl Moses Cotton, Sr. and the late Ethelandia Merchant Cotton.

Marie was a devoted wife and mother. She loved fishing, cooking, and spending time with her family. She retired from the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles and Highway Safety where she worked as a Financial Responsibility Specialist.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Carl Mentz Hightower; son, Gregory Clark Hightower; two brothers, Earl Moses Cotton, Jr. and Roy Cecil Cotton, Sr.; and her two sisters, Margie Ellen Gainey and Gwen Haney.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Linda Hightower of Tallahassee, Florida; granddaughter, Kayla Marie Bellflower of Panama City, Florida; great grandchildren, Joseph Burke, Kennedy Bellflower, Richard "Ricky" Barner IV and Anchor Barner; brother, Henry Cotton of Tallahassee, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 12pm to 1:30pm at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Florida with funeral services beginning at 1:30pm. The graveside committal will be at 3pm CST/ 4pm EST at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4531 Highway 79, Vernon, Florida.
