Mrs. Mary Louise was born in Tallahassee, FL, on October 17th, 1922, to Joseph Carter Williamson and Fay Laurie Rollo Williamson. Mary Louise graduated from Leon High School in 1939 and attended Florida State College for Women, which would become Florida State University. She married John “Jack” Allen Richey, Jr. on April 19th, 1941. Mary Louise worked as the secretary of the Department of Anthropology and later for the Department of Sociology at Florida State University for many years. Mary Lou also worked and volunteered at the LeRoy Collins Public Library and upon her retirement was awarded a rare golden library card for her many years of service. Mary Louise was a lifelong fan of Florida State football, a member of the Tallahassee Garden Club, a world traveler, and an avid reader who was never without a book. She will be remembered as a woman of sharp wit, a courageous spirit, and abounding love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Richey, her son, Michael Richey, and her brother, John Williamson.
Survivors include two sons, John Richey, III (Margaret) of Cove, Oregon and Joe Richey (Lori) of Marianna; seven grandchildren, Michelle, John IV, Maggie, Laura, Travis, Christian, and Gabriel; five step-grandchildren, Chelsea, Daniel, Helen, Bryan, and Amanda; eight great-grandchildren, Zachary, Auggie, Remy, Tallulah, Rosa Mae, Keller, Keaton, and Karson; and brother Joe Williamson (Linda).
