Maxine Grier Dye

Maxine Dye, age 92, of Tallahassee Florida passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025. She was born in Doerun, Georgia to the late William Oscar Grier, and Ruth Mae Brady Grier on August 8, 1933. Maxine was married to her husband Oscar V. Dye for 64 years. As a military spouse, Maxine supported Oscar in his 20 years of service with United States Air Force. She then put herself through nursing school and served as a nurse at Tampa General and Memorial Hospital of Tampa for 20 years. Maxine volunteered in the hospital ER for several years following her retirement.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, as well as her parents, Bill and Ruth Mae Grier, her brother Brady Grier, and her sister Faye Russell.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Dale) Tadlock of Tallahassee, Donald Lamar Dye of Tampa; 8 grandchildren; Jessica Hogue, Ashley Richardson, Jena Enfinger, Courtney Herring , Logan Tadlock, Lukas Tadlock, Isabella Tadlock, and Elleana Tadlock; six great grandchildren; Tripp and Quinn Herring , Harrison and Bond Hogue , Lily, and Alexander Tadlock ; two sisters Mary Florence Paulk, and Debra Beck; and her niece Janet Underwood.

A visitation for Maxine will be held Monday, September 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to big Bend Hospice house or Samaritan's Purse.
