He was born in Traverse City, Michigan. As a young adult he moved to Tampa, Florida, then lived in Orlando for 50 years until he moved to Tallahassee five years ago.
Mr. Cottrell is survived by his sons Ralph III (Eleanor), Raymond (Stella), grandson Keith Cottrell, all of Tallahassee, and granddaughter Catherine Cottrell of Columbia, South Carolina.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Tallahassee, FL.
