It was always a day made better when we were met by Richard at the entrance to the Garden Center, (Thomasville Rd.) Walmart Store.  
Kay, with whom I worked, and Richard, who we learned "belonged to her", are alike in that, they each have a special enduring and sustaining quality about their lives and their interactions with others that make others feel loved, in a comfortable and easy way.  We will remember this man. His strengths and his many kindnesses will be treasured and live on after him.  We thank God for him and pray that God will sustain his dearest Kay, their children, and family, and the outreach Richard had in church and community.

It was our blessing to have known Dick for so many years.  He and Kay showed so much love to others.  He was a tireless worker and always had a smile for everyone he saw.  Certainly our loss and heaven's gain. - Jerry and Sue Shafer

Dick was a truly good man.  He was a caring friend to all.  My thoughts and prayers are with you Kay and your family.

I had the pleasure of working with Richard for nearly 10 years at Wal-Mart; and I learned a lot of valuable life lessons from him.  We always talked and I enjoyed his conversation.

My family had the honor of meeting Dick and Kay when we moved to Foxcroft 23 years ago. We served together on the Foxcroft Neighborhood Association Board and he was always so dedicated to whatever project he was involved in. Foxcroft, Wal-Mart and all who knew him has lost a wonderful friend. Kay, Carla and Rick, you are in our thoughts and prayers. The Rivet's: Roland, Stacy, Douglas, Dannielle and Deanna.

Dick will be greatly missed by his friends and neighbors in Foxcroft. His dedication to serving the neighborhood as a volunteer was unwavering in the 15+ years that I have known him. A joke that he and I shared is that I called him "Mr. Walton" whenever we would talk on the phone, in reference to his Walmart employment. "Goodbye Mr. Walton." We will miss you - I will miss you.

As a testimony of his faith, when we first met Dick he immediately invited us to join him in church.  Within the neighborhood, he was fondly known as “keeper of the lake”.  His care and efforts with the landscaping at the entrance to Foxcroft as well as faithful service to the Homeowners Board was untiringly.  His devotion to God, his family, country and neighborhood will be greatly missed.

Absolute pleasure to work with, a great American patriot. Will be sorely missed around Walmart.
