With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Robert Talley Copeland, of Tallahassee, Florida. Robert was called to heaven on May 14, 2026, at the age of 69. Born in Valdosta, Georgia, on July 6, 1956, he spent his final weeks surrounded by the unwavering love of his wife of 40 years, Julie, and their three adult children. He was also visited by his brothers and many of his cherished friends.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, H. Talley Copeland and Betty Jane Kimble, as well as numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his children: Anthony Jon “AJ” Copeland (Courtney and grandchildren Brooklyn and Jaxon Talley), Parker Talley Copeland, and Jordyn “Rylee” Copeland; his brothers Harry (Debbie) and Tom (Gracie); niece Daphne Copeland Hillerman (Caleb and their children Silas, Harper, and Inman); nephew Logan Talley Copeland; and many cousins.

Through his hard work and dedication, he quickly advanced to store manager in 1978. After years of relocating from store to store, Robert decided to pursue a new path and further his education, attending Tallahassee Community College before earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Florida State University in 1987. He later received his Certified Public Accountant designation in 1989.

In February 1985, Robert’s brother Tom and his wife, Gracie, introduced him to Julie—Gracie’s friend and co worker. Their connection was immediate. They became engaged that May and married in November, beginning a life filled with devotion, laughter, and the joy of raising three children. Through fostering and involvement in youth activities, Robert opened his heart and home to many more. Known for his easygoing humor and deep commitment to family and education, he touched countless lives with his kindness and steady presence.
Robert found great joy in cheering from the sidelines of soccer fields—supporting his children, grandchildren, and the Florida State University Seminoles. He loved time on the water with family and friends, playing golf, softball, and tennis, doting on his many dogs, and taking peaceful after dinner walks. His warmth, generosity, and spirit will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
