A longtime Tallahassee resident, Bob was born in Live Oak, FL and raised in Bagdad, FL. He attend Florida State and graduated with a degree from the University of Maryland. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Bob was a retired chemist for the Department of Agriculture, State of Florida.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Sydney G. Pitts, his sons, Mark Pitts ( Sue), of Aistead, NH, William Pitts (Sandy) of Memphis, TN, Bruce Simmons of Tallahassee and Bryan Simmons of Waukeenah, daughters, Susan Pitts Johnson ( Curt) of Washington, DC and Zoe Davis (Paul) of Waukeenah, a brother, Alton G. Pitts (Thelma) of Orlando, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Bartram “Bart” Simmons, a grandson, Dustin Simmons and a granddaughter, Teresa Ann Simmons, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
