Robert F. Schumm

Bob was born on August 2, 1926 in Pekin, Illinois, to Oscar and Alice (Morris) Schumm. Following his graduation from Pekin High School, Bob joined the U.S. Army Air Force Squadron A, 116th unit. He served as an information specialist.

Bob returned to Pekin and married the love of his life, Carol Williams, in 1947. They moved to Des Plaines, IL in 1955. Bob was a long-time employee of Centel. He was active in the Park Ridge Jaycees and served as their president from 1960-1961.

In 1983, Bob and Carol moved to Tallahassee to begin a long and happy retirement. Bob enjoyed playing golf, traveling and spending time with his family. Bob served as a volunteer at Capital Regional Medical Center and was a member of Killearn United Methodist Church. He passed along to his children his love of music, good food, bad puns, electronic gadgets and the Chicago Cubs.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carol; children Susan Schumm of Elk Grove Village, IL; Nancy (Michael) Spengler of Bartlett, IL; Lori (Paul) Fearnside of Lakeville, MN and Robert (Rita) Schumm of Schiller Park, IL; grandchildren Brian (Alison) Spengler, Andrew (Jessica) Spengler, Thomas (Jennifer) Spengler, Emily Fearnside and Benjamin Fearnside; great-grandchildren Tessa and Mason Spengler; Aunt Elizabeth (nee Morris) Brooks, many cousins and dear friends.

Funeral service will be held 4:00 pm Sunday, May 8, 2011 in the chapel of Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road. Family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Big Bend Hospice Foundation, 1723 Mahan Center Boulevard, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
