Prayers for Roger's family and loved ones. So sorry I have not been more aware. 😢 Great person. Hardworking and kind.

Wow! It's impossible to believe you are gone. Your determination to end impaired driving saved so many lives. You were such an inspiration to everyone around you. I miss your smile and kind words already. While I know in my heart you are surrounded by your parents, Lora and your friends and family that went before you, I will still miss your presence here. I choose not to say goodbye, but instead, until we meet again.

I would like to personally express my gratitude and appreciation for all that you did for me during my time working at DEO (State of Florida).  I truly learned a lot from you and the opportunity you gave me with Small Cities-CDBG program.  I truly enjoyed our numerous conversations on sports (especially Michigan State), work, Taco Tuesdays at La Fiesta, travel and life.  Your Jedi wisdom and support meant more to me than you know.   Since I was new to the team, from day one you deemed me "Probie," and its stuck with me ever since.  You always had a great sense of humor with a memorable laugh and smile.  You'll be truly missed, always loved, but never forgotten... 

Uncle Roger,
You were that last link we had to mom, Kris Kringle to us younger kids, the fun guy who came to town to visit...  You were loud (so very loud ), loving and gone way too soon...  I can see you now with your family who went before you and it brings me comfort to know you are all together.  Give them my unending love - especially my mom and dad, keep watch over us. Although the miles kept us distanced over the past decades, I will ever be thankful for the times we were able to visit when you came North. I will cherish the trips I made from Ft. Stewart, GA to Tallahassee for the occasional home improvement project, swamp meet trip, your very good but my horrendous golf outings and most importantly the pork, black beans and rice that Lora would prepare. Roger, you were an inspiration in more ways that one. My love of trains, my license plate, reading countless books, a reborn appreciation of nature and of the country's national parks. Be well, enjoy a taller glass of Irish Creme when you sit with your father, mother and sisters arguing over a game of cards.

My dearest Uncle Roger,
I will miss you so very much. This is so sudden and you are gone to soon. You are a blessing to so many. You were a blessing to me by being my Godfather, we weren’t close when I was younger except visits to Pgh, But we became closer after I moved to Orlando 8 years ago. I have enjoyed our random conversations about weather, about the “Rat”, and most importantly the advice you gave me about living in Florida and how to live here during the Hurricane seasons. I just spoke to you after Elsa came through to make sure you survived. We laughed and talked about the storm season to come. I guess you will not miss waiting for those storms. 
Enjoy the beautiful heaven awaiting you. Please give my mommy, my daddy, and my Nonnie, my Betty and your Lora hugs and love from me.
May you bounce like Tigger on the heavenly clouds. I will miss you.

Roger, my Uncle and Godfather, you will be missed!  We didn't share as much time together as we did in my younger years but the time we did share as well as the time we had in my youth has left a lasting impression that will never be forgotten.  So much younger than my Mom you were more like one of us than an Uncle.  Nonnie yelled at us both a time or two and Betty always had a correction to give...such fond memories.  Gone before your time, we never did get to take that train ride through Canada together.  One of your last messages to me, sent a month after our Dad died, was that you would gladly fill the role of "grandfather" for one of your great-nieces if she needed you.
Always loving, always there...that was you.  Losing you and my Dad in short order is tough, but I know you are looking down from heaven, telling Nonnie to shush, that Beth is fine and that all is well. 

It was a pleasure and honor to work with Roger. He was passionate about his work and his knowledge of the programs he managed could not be matched. He loved helping those in need and didn’t hesitate when someone needed clarification or assistance. He had a great sense of humor and was a dynamic and entertaining presenter. I for one truly appreciated Roger’s knowledge and talent and he was missed greatly when he retired. His eyes lit up when he talked about working on Florida’s trail system - once again his passion came through.  God’s speed Roger, it’s time to blaze some trails in heaven.

Roger and the CDBG team has helped me and other’s so much over the years. You were a warm and very special person who cared about so many. I feel very fortunate to have had the pleasure of working with you, I appreciated your guidance. You will be missed. My deepest condolences and regards to your family and coworkers.

I have worked with Roger for the past few years with the Apalachee Chapter of the Florida Trail Association. Roger's love and passion for the Florida National Scenic Trail and outdoor pursuits will be so sorely missed by us all.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family and friends. Words fail me... he will be deeply missed.

Roger Doherty was an amazing man, friend, planner, public speaker, cook, writer, editor, and supervisor (I know I’m missing some that hopefully others will fill in). He was one of humankind that made a difference on this earth. He passionately believed in rules, structure and planning, although his desk was as messy as mine was. He was fiercely compassionate when it came to ensuring fairness and that those needing help were properly and adequately served.  He admirably stuck to his beliefs no matter the cost. He had an amazing and unique sense of humor and a booming voice and laughter to deliver it with. Prior to meeting my wife in person, he teased that the pictures I showed him of her were of a model I’d gotten to pose with me in the pictures.  She was thereafter referred to as, “the model.” He was my boss and my friend and I, along with many others who had the honor of knowing him, will miss him deeply. Rest In Peace Roger! Know that you were and are  loved and appreciated.

Rest in peace, Roger.  Our friendship goes back almost 50 years, since our days at the fraternity at Michigan State.
We shared a lot of good meals and rounds of golf.
You are gone way too soon.
