Ronald Ashley Gilley, 60, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 22, 2015 with his devoted wife Kim by his side and in the company of his family and friends. As Ronald would have wished, all family and friends are invited to come as you are for a casual gathering to share happy memories in a celebration of his life. Ronald was born on April 8, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Florida High School. He played football, pole vaulting, and track and field where he obtained the nickname “Crazy Legs”. He decided to make a career working for the City of Tallahassee where he later retired from. Ronald married the love of his life, Kim and would have celebrated 39 years with her this year. Ronald played recreational softball. He was a FSU Football Fan as well as an Atlanta Braves Baseball Fan. All who knew him were aware that his true love was hunting. His passion for hunting allowed him to pass the love of the sport down to his children. He loved fishing with close friends as well. One of the greatest joys in his life is when he became “Poppy” to his two grandchildren. Ronald was best known for his personality and loyalty to his family and friends whom he cherished more than anything. He is survived by his wife, Kim Parker Gilley; his daughter Ashleigh Gilley; his son Stuart Gilley (LeeAnn); his grandchildren Parker Wyatt and Teegen Gilley; his mother; Juanita Griffin Gilley; his brother Robert Gilley (Carolyn); his sister Dorothy Brown (Chuck); and his sister-in-law Frankie Vignochi; his faithful little buddy “Cash” as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Erwin Lee Gilley and his brother Michael Raymond Vignochi. The family will receive visitors from 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 at The White Primitive Baptist Church in Woodville, FL. with a memorial service immediately following at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for contributions to be made to the Big Bend Hospice.
