Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 in the chapel of Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road with interment to follow in Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends in the funeral home on Monday from 12 noon until the service time.
After graduating from the University of Michigan, she married the love of her life, William Eugene Kirchgessner, Jr. They lived in Michigan and moved to Tallahassee in 1973. They were married for 56 years. Shirley was a member of Delta Delta Delta. She loved to read and go to the pool and beach, and was an FSU fan. She was a member of many bridge groups. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. She will be remembered for her loving, caring, and generous spirit.
She is survived by her husband, William Kirchgessner, daughter, Lindsay Schworer (Doug), son, Billy Kirchgessner (Bonnie), and daughter, Amy Horner (Tommy), six grandchildren, Emily, Will, Bridgette Schworer, Tara and Anna Kirchgessner and Courtney Horner, and one great granddaughter, Darcy Kirchgessner.
Arrangements are under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Tallahassee, FL.
