One trip after another, in August 2023, we went to Spain and Portugal, visited many museums, palaces, cathedrals and other places. In February 2024 we went to Costa Rica, quite different from the previous trip, with the tropical rain forest flowers, birds and small animals. We did see and climbed a volcanic mountain,  but did not go all the way to the top. Susan also went snorkeling at the beach.
After we came back from this trip, we decided to go to Norway to visit that country's breathtaking fjords, mountains and unique cultural experiences. The trip was arranged and flight tickets were bought. Yet, one day in late June or early July, Susan called saying she had been diagnosed with the stage 4 lung cancer during her exam.I could hardly believe this. During the February trip, only 5 months earlier, she did not have any symptoms.  I went to Norway by myself, yet each day I selected some good pictures to share with her as if we were travelling together. She took the targeted therapy. We chatted in person or over the phone every week and planned to go to Japan when she got better. She had a very positive attitude towards her illness. 
I will miss her when I travel from now on. I will go to Japan with you, and eventually travel to another world with you, dear sister.

some ruins from ancient dynasties dated back to 220 BC; some ancient irrigation systems. In Xi'an we also visited the tomb of Qin Shi Huang and his Terracotta army. The scenery was beautiful, deserts, oases, snow capped mountains, white sand lakes 4000 miters above sea level, et cetra, et cetra. 
No trips were available in
2020 and 2021 due to the COVID pandemic. 
In late October 2022, we decided to see the northern lights in Alaska. We stayed in an igloo camp north of Fairbanks. Half of the roof was made from fiber glass and we could see the stars, milky way and aurora borealis every night. We also enjoyed a ride to the Arctic Circle.

I first met Susan in mid 1980s at the downtown First Baptist Church. At that time Billy was a baby. 
I graduated from FSU in 1989 and started working for the Florida Department of Revenue in the office of Tax Research, Susan was then already working for the Florida Department of Revenue in the Accounting Office. We worked at different offices, and at one time at different locations. It was not until 2007 when the department moved to the Southwood complex, that we started getting to know each other. Quite often we took a walk around the complex during the break time. 
Susan retired from the Department of Revenue several years before me. After her retirement, she started learning Taichi and Gu Zheng (an ancient Chinese instrument with 21 strings). We both practiced Taichi and Gu Zheng, and had a couple performances together. 
In February 2017, we started our first tour together, New Zealand. It was a wonderful experience.
After my retirement in July 2017, I joined the Florida Master Gardener Volunteer Program. In October 2018, University of Florida organized a field trip to southern Italy to visit and exchange the agriculture experience, Susan and I joined Master Gardeners from other counties in Florida. During the trip, we visited Olive groves, Olive oil processing facilities; wineries; lemon orchards, apple orchard; pomegranate orchard; etc. We also visited some famous churches, cathedrals, trullis, volcano ruins and other architectural sites in Lecce, Ostuni, Alberobello, Potenza, the Almafi Coast, Sorrento, Naples, Pompei and Rome. When the group finished, Susan and I took two extra days to Milan to visit the famous Cathedral. Susan and I got along really well. So we decided to take another trip to China in November 2019, Beijing, Xinjiang, Lanzhou, Zhangye, Yinchuan, YanAn, XiAn, following the route of the Silk Road. Along the way, we visited the Great Wall, the Fobbiden City, the Summer Palace, Dunhuang, the Danxia lanforms, sliding on deserts and riding camels，
