Suzi was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on September 20, 1933, to her parents Ernest and Vera Adams. She took great pride and interest that her mother immigrated from Denmark to start a new life in the U.S.
Suzi attended Benson High School in Omaha. She later attended University of Nebraska and lived at the Kappa Kappa Gamma house where she met a busboy, and future husband, Robert (Bob) Johnson.
Bob and Suzi married in 1954. They had 3 children before moving to Tallahassee in 1965. She loved the arts and worked at Lemoyne Arts Foundation, Florida State Fine Arts Council, and North Florida Pottery Supply (one of the original art studios at Railroad Square).
Suzi enjoyed golf and volunteered with Killearn PGA tours. She loved the Gulf of Mexico, especially grouper fishing. The family spent much time at Shell Point, St. George and Dog Island.
Suzi had a strong passion for animals. She had numerous horses, dogs and cats. She was an advocate for animal well-being and worked tirelessly to establish the Wakulla Animal Shelter. When her son Mark passed, Suzi’s passion turned to raising her grandson, Buddy. In her later years, she loved reading and her book club companions.
She is predeceased in death by her husband, Robert Johnson, and her son, Mark Johnson. She is survived by her son, Jeff Johnson (Gaye); daughter, Julea Williams (Scott); and grandchildren, Robert Kyle (Buddy) Johnson and Matthew Williams; and her loving pets Cammie and Charlie.
The family will be ever grateful for the care Suzi received from Big Bend Hospice. No services will be held at this time.
