Born on March 30, 1949, in Macon, Georgia, Teddi spent most of her life in Tallahassee, Florida, where she built a large community of family and friends.
Teddi’s life was grounded in her steadfast faith, which shaped her character, her service, and the way she cared for others. Her belief in God guided her through every season, giving her strength, compassion, and a joyful spirit that she shared freely. Her faith was not only a source of personal comfort but a driving force that inspired her to pour love into her family, her church, and her community.
Teddi lived a life guided by kindness, service, and a deep belief in the promise of young people. She was a lifelong friend of youth, dedicating countless hours to supporting, mentoring, and uplifting the next generation. She retired from the State of Florida as a Program Specialist II in 2014 but it was her involvement in Optimist International that was a defining part of her life’s work. She served in many leadership roles, culminating in her proud service as Governor in 1999. Through her passion and commitment, she touched hundreds of lives, helping young people find confidence, opportunity, and hope.
Teddi was a woman of gentle strength, steady compassion, and a generous heart. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and understood, and her presence brought comfort, much laughter, and a sense of home to all who knew her. She lived her life with kindness as her compass, finding joy in the everyday moments she shared with those she loved.
Her greatest pride and happiness came from her family. Teddi was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John Allan Watson Sr., and is survived by her sons, Blake Watson and Jay Watson; her treasured grandchildren, Bailey, Skye, and Caleb; and her brother, Randy Malone. She held each of them close in her heart and celebrated their lives, accomplishments, and dreams with unwavering love and support.
Teddi will be remembered for her warmth, her ebullient spirit, and the way she gave of herself so freely. Her legacy lives on not only in her family, but also in the countless lives she touched with her grace and kindness.
A celebration of Teddi’s life will be held on December 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at Bradfordville First Baptist Church in Tallahassee, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful life she lived.
And a good time was had by all.
