Vera “Jane” Williams, 81, of Tallahassee died Thursday (10/8) at Big Bend Hospice. A native of Greensburg, PA, she came to Tallahassee from St. Petersburg in December, 2001 following her retirement from Sears Commercial Sales. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and had been an active volunteer at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare where she was a coddler, a patient care advocate, and also assisted in the neuro ICU. Jane enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. Upon moving in at Allegro Senior Living she became very involved with the activities there and served on the welcoming committee and as a member of the “gangster grannies”.
Survivors include her daughters: Melanie (Rick) Poltevecque and Beverly (Jeff Zenner) Leonard both of Tallahassee; brother: Paul Newhouse of Ohio; sisters: Dorothy Leonard of Latrobe, PA, Faye McGinnis of New Florence, PA, Karen Starry of New Alexandria, PA, Sheryl Lehosky of Jeannette, PA; grandchildren: Tony (Katrina) Leigh, Emily Poltevecque, Kyle Poltevecque; and one great-grandson: Wyatt William Leigh.
