

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wesley Allen Moore, 87, on October 18, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida. Wesley, affectional known as W.A., was born on November 25, 1937, to Myrtle Moncus Moore and John Mercer Moore in Preston, Georgia.
W.A. was raised in humble beginnings, working with his family growing peanuts. He joined the U.S. Navy in October 1956 and learned aviation fundamentals and served on the USS Forrestal. After serving his country, W.A attended South Georgia Technical School in Americus, Georgia and met the love of his life Nancy Madeline Scott of Orange Beach, Alabama. They were married on June 15, 1963.
W.A. and Nancy built a wonderful life in Morrow, Georgia and attended The Rock Baptist Church in Rex, Georgia for many years. W.A. worked for Southern Airways as an airplane mechanic and with time worked his way up to Maintenance Control. In 1980, he moved his family to Apple Valley, Minnesota where he managed fleets of airplanes for Northwest Airlines then Delta Airlines where he retired in 2000. W.A. was a farmer at heart and always had a large vegetable garden wherever he lived. He also loved riding his Harley Davidson all over the United States with his son, even into his 80’s.
In retirement, he and Nancy went on several mission trips to Honduras and volunteered with Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief. W.A. also loved his Lord Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully in many capacities, but his favorite was teaching Sunday School and being an ordained deacon. He loved teaching the senior adults at First Baptist Church Locust Grove and most recently at Cherry Laurel. He loved studying the Bible and was a mentor to many.
W.A. was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Ray Moore and parents Myrtle and John Mercer Moore. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Scott Moore; his two children, Tonya Money (Wayne), Paul Moore (Susie); his grandchildren, Amber Campbell (Dan), Zachary Dillman (Emma), Brandon Moore, Brady Moore, Brooke Moore; great grandchildren, Parker Campbell, Joy Campbell, Joshua Campbell, Philip Campbell, Elisabeth Campbell, and Penny Dillman. W.A. is survived by his siblings, Betty Garrett, Doris Mathis (Jim), Becky Pearson (Hart), Mercer Moore (Catherine) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service with Military Honors will be held on November 7, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32311, and a Celebration of Life will be held on November 8, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home,1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308 with Pastor Craig Bowers presiding. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made to Samaritans Purse or the charity of your choice.
