The son of the late WD. Sawyer Jr. and Margaret Stegall Sawyer, he was an Eagle Scout, Quartermaster Sea Explorer, and member of the Order of the Arrow. He was also a commercial deep sea diver and Master Carpenter for Habitat for Humanity.
A self stated adventurer, Skip was always trying new things and travelled across the country twice following portions of the Lewis and Clark Trail and visiting Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and the Arches National Parks along with numerous state parks in South Dakota, Montana, Washington, and Nevada.
He is survived by a daughter, Crystal D. Smith, a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Smith both of Tallahassee, Florida, a sister Ava J. Davis and her husband Al of Thomasville. Georgia, a brother David. I Sawyer and his wife Wanda of Tallahassee and a half-sister, Celeste Sawyer Mills and her husband Tommy of El Paso, Texas.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers a small donation could be made to the Habitat for Humanity or Big Bend Hospice
