

William “Mark” Brinkley, 58 of Aurora, IL died Tuesday December 31, 2013. The service will be at 2 p.m. EST Sunday, January 5, at First Baptist Church in Tallahassee. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, January 4 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, Riggins Road Chapel (850-877-8191).
He was born in Richmond, VA and moved shortly thereafter to Tallahassee where he lived until he moved to Aurora, IL. He was a 1973 graduate of Leon High School where he played trumpet in the band. He was a 1976 graduate of Florida State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
He worked at the Florida Public Service Commission and Florida Department of Law Enforcement before moving to Aurora IL. to work at Nicor Gas. He was a member of the Naperville Christian Church, Naperville, IL.
Growing up he played on city baseball and football teams. He was actively involved in church and volunteered in many different capacities in the community. He liked to write stories and poetry, and also enjoyed singing.
Survivors include his sister, Carol Brinkley of Tallahassee and her husband Chuck Porretto, many cousins and good friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Martin Brinkley, father, Carl D. Brinkley and brother, Matthew G. Brinkley all of Tallahassee.
