He was born May 15, 1940 in Tallahassee, FL to Curtis and Mary DuPree. Bill spent his entire life in Tallahassee and attended Leonard Wesson Elementary and Cobb Middle School before graduating from Leon High School in 1959. After graduation from Leon High he attended Florida State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in 1964. On January 2, 1965 he married the former Wynell Kittrell and they had two daughters.
During his professional career, Bill worked as a Communications Engineer with Centel Phone Company before joining the State of Florida where he worked 30+ years until his retirement.
He will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, love for the outdoors, sharp wit and intellect and his jokes. He loved to fish and study history. Of course he loved all things Florida State. We are most thankful for the wisdom he passed down to his girls and grandkids.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Curtis DuPree and brother Jimmy DuPree. He is survived by his wife Wynell of 56 years, daughter Dania (Robert) Day of Tallahassee, daughter Amy (Boomer) Detweiler of Apollo Beach, FL, brother Wayne (Mary Caroline) DuPree of New Smyrna Beach, FL and grandchildren William Austin Day, Tanner DuPree Detweiler, Taylor Leigh Detweiler and Harper Susan Detweiler.
