Donald Baron Peddlar affectionately known as Danny, was born to Michael Samuel Peddlar (deceased) and Lilleth Maud Peddlar (deceased) on May 18, 1963 in Saint Mary Jamaica. He attended Kingston Technical High School after his sister Pauline discovered his aptitude for working with his hands. He migrated from Jamaica to Hollis Queens around 1985.
In his younger years, he was previously married to his first wife Marlene Clifton. They had three children, Danielle, Damian and Christina. During this time, he worked with American Airlines. In 1995, he made a request to transfer out of New York to either Texas or Florida due to the cold weather. Ultimately, he made the decision to move his family from Far Rockaway, New York to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He reconnected with family and friends in Florida. They immediately embraced him due to his friendly nature.
Later in his life around 2005, he found love again when he met Karlene Dixon. They wed in February 2008 in Jamaica surrounded by family and friends. Karlene and Danny loved to travel and visit new places. They enjoyed traveling in the US, as well as cruising to many different Caribbean islands. One of his favorite excursions while traveling was riding ATVs.
In 2013, his first grandchild Paige Simpson was born. She lovingly nicknamed him “Pop Pop”. The following year Laila Peddlar was born and grandson Bryce Simpson was born in 2018. He was a loving “Pop Pop” who looked forward to their weekend visits , random FaceTime calls and grandfather/granddaughter dates.
He was a dedicated father who made every effort to be there for his children and every important milestone of their lives. He attended sporting events, graduations and the birth of his first grandchild.
He worked for UPS as a truck driver for close to 23 years before he had to medically retire in August 2023. He loved to brag about being retired and not having to do anything besides watching Judge Judy and travel. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking on holidays and hosting dinner. He was famous for his fried turkey that his grandchildren loved. He also began experimenting new recipes outside of traditional Jamaican cuisine particularly Chinese.
He was a member of Christian Life Center and faithfully attended church and tithed. After the pandemic, he watched the church services online.
